Crystal City Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested In D.C.

A Washington, D.C., man was arrested in connection with a Crystal City bank robbery and awaits extradition to Virginia.

ARLINGTON, VA — A Washington, D.C., man has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery Tuesday afternoon in Arlington's Crystal City neighborhood, police said.

Brian Frances, 36, was charged with robbery and is being held in Washington, D.C., pending extradition to Virginia, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Police were dispatched at about 12:24 p.m. Tuesday, to the 1400 block of South Eads Street for a reported bank robbery.

Investigators said Frances allegedly entered the bank, handed a teller a note demanding money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police said no weapon was seen or displayed during the robbery, and no injuries were reported.

Suspect Identified Through Investigation

Detectives with the Arlington County Police Department's Homicide/Robbery Unit identified Frances as the suspect during the investigation. He was later taken into custody in Washington, D.C., with assistance from the Metro Transit Police Department, police said.

The investigation remains active.
