ARLINGTON, VA — A teenage boy brandished what appeared to be a firearm while speaking with police officers at the Arlington County Fair, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

The officers gave the teen commands, took him into custody and secured the object, according to police. Investigators later determined it was a replica water gun.

No injuries were reported.

During the investigation, officers also recovered a knife and alcohol from the teen's backpack, police said.

Authorities obtained juvenile petitions charging the teen with possession of a weapon on school property, brandishing on school property, possession of alcohol by a person younger than 21 and possession of alcohol on school property.

Police did not release the teen's name because he is a juvenile.
