Police: Teen Brandished Replica Gun At Arlington County Fair

ARLINGTON, VA — A teenage boy brandished what appeared to be a firearm while speaking with police officers at the Arlington County Fair, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Officers working at the fair were approached by the teen at about 6:22 p.m. Friday in the 3500 block of 2nd Street South, police said. After speaking briefly with the officers, the teen displayed what appeared to be a gun.

The officers gave the teen commands, took him into custody and secured the object, according to police. Investigators later determined it was a replica water gun.

No injuries were reported.

During the investigation, officers also recovered a knife and alcohol from the teen’s backpack, police said.

Authorities obtained juvenile petitions charging the teen with possession of a weapon on school property, brandishing on school property, possession of alcohol by a person younger than 21 and possession of alcohol on school property.

Police did not release the teen’s name because he is a juvenile.
