Angry Arlington Hotel Guest Falsely Reports Gunman: Police

ARLINGTON, VA -- A guest who was angry at an Arlington hotel over a refund dispute falsely reported a gunman in the lobby of the hotel on Wednesday, police say.

Police were called to the 2200 block of Arlington Boulevard at around 2:30 p.m. on March 6 to a report of a man brandishing a firearm in a hotel lobby, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department. The report does not identify the hotel, but there is a Days Inn in that general area.

"Upon arrival, officers cleared the lobby and established a perimeter while gathering additional information," the report states. "The investigation determined that no disturbance had occurred and that the reporting party allegedly had an ongoing dispute with the hotel over a refund."

Police have obtained a warrant for filing a false police report, the report adds. Police did not identify the suspect.
