ARLINGTON, Virginia (Date) — For the 6th consecutive year, the Aurora Hills Women’s Club (AHWC) is taking orders for fresh decorated evergreen holiday wreaths—a popular and growing annual tradition that has raised over $22,000 for Arlington-based nonprofits since it began in 2011. Proceeds from this year’s wreath sale will be donated to two local nonprofits: the Arlington Historical Society for maintenance and improvements at the Arlington Historical Museum (the former Hume School) on Arlington Ridge Road; and Friends of Clarendon House, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the lives of Arlington County residents with severe mental illnesses.

Wreaths are available in two sizes: small (outside diameter 16 inches) and medium (22 inches), and two styles: “simple and festive,” which includes a large, beautiful hand-made bow, and “talk of all your friends,” also with the handmade bow plus decorations. Wreaths can be customized – buyers specify ribbon color, for example, and may add additional comments such as door color where the wreath will hang, or décor style desired - in the online order process or on the hardcopy order form. Prices range from $34 to $59.

About the Aurora Hills Women’s Club

The Aurora Hills Women’s Club was founded in 1958 by a small group of military wives who got together to raise money for community projects. Since then, AHWC has supported numerous local charities and nonprofits and funded neighborhood projects. The group, now with 80 members primarily in the Aurora Hills/Arlington Ridge neighborhood of south Arlington, meets monthly and supports many charities in addition to its beneficiaries of the annual wreath sale--living up to its motto of “Continuing Community Commitment."
