ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington will be one of four DMV locations where Puppies and Pilates officially launches April 11, according to a press release announcing the new fitness business. The company said classes also will be offered in Washington, D.C.; Annapolis, Maryland; and West Springfield, Virginia.

The concept combines a 45-minute Pilates workout with 30 minutes of wellness time with puppies. Classes will be held on Saturdays and Sundays, with three sessions per day and a maximum of 30 participants per class, according to the release. Tickets are listed at $65 per person and must be booked online. Registrants must be 12 years of age or older to participate.

Puppies and Pilates was founded by Bethany Kazaba, an entrepreneur and founder of Neighborhood Retail Group. The business was created to blend physical wellness, community and animals.

“I’ve spent my career helping landlords and tenants bring businesses to life," Kazaba said. "Puppies and Pilates is the culmination of things that mean a lot to me — physical and mental health, community, and animals. I want to share this newest endeavor with my NRG clients and local communities, led by a team of strong, driven women who will scale Puppies and Pilates into something truly impactful.”

The company said the workout portion is meant to function as a full Pilates class rather than a novelty event. Programming was curated by Director of Operations Alex Perrin, owner, founder and CEO of Cut Seven and former director of Coach Development at [solidcore], in collaboration with instructors across the DMV.

“Participants are getting a real workout first and foremost. The puppies add an element of joy and connection, but the foundation is an athletic, modern approach to Pilates that people will come back for again and again," Perrin said.

Each class includes puppies in a managed setting intended to support early socialization as they prepare for future homes, according to the release. The company also said mocktails will be served during the puppy wellness portion from pink bar carts.

Puppies and Pilates is currently operating in Annapolis and the other three launch markets. Information on exact class times, ticket availability, trainer partnerships and puppy partnerships is available through the company website.
