Arlington-Based Concierge App Expands Into D.C.

The Ouli app recommends restaurants, spas and even yoga classes based on what you're in the mood for.

A locally based concierge smartphone app is expanding into Northwest.

Ouli, created by Arlington-based software company Dante, has added a few Washington, D.C. neighborhoods that can access the app, providing consumers with "offers and suggestions for local merchants and events that are personalized based on their chosen activities, time, location, history and preferences," the company said in a statement.

The Ouli app has now added Cleveland Park, Woodley Park and 14th Street merchants to its list of neighborhoods.

The aim of Ouli is to connect consumers to merchants who might otherwise not know about each other, "changing the way people enjoy their neighborhoods by highlighting upcoming events, offers they might not know about at iconic businesses and introducing them to new businesses," the statement reads.

The app works by having the user answer three questions: what do you want to do, what time and where. Then, the app starts combing through many local possibilities and presents three options. Ouli recommends not just restaurants, but also salons and spas, farmers markets and even yoga classes.
