ARLINGTON, VA — The Arlington Civitan Open Air Flea Market is scheduled to return Saturday, May 2, at the I-66 parking garage at 4001 15th St. North in Arlington. The event is set for 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free to attend, according to the press release from the Arlington Civitan Club.

The market is in its 40th year and will be held across four covered levels of the garage, next to Washington-Liberty High School. The club said more than 150 vendors are expected. The event is held rain or shine because it takes place under cover in the multi-level garage.

The flea market is the main fundraiser for the Arlington Civitan Club, which said money raised through vendor space rentals and refreshment sales supports Arlington residents with developmental disabilities and local youth leadership initiatives.

"After four decades, it's not just a market, it's an Arlington institution," Patrick Malone, Civitan media relations volunteer, said in the release. "Seeing the garage transform from a quiet commuter lot into a bustling community hub before the sun even comes up is a testament to the local spirit that has kept this flea market going since 1986."

Shoppers can expect vendors selling items including mid-century furniture, vinyl records, vintage jewelry and collectibles. Free parking will be available in the surface lot next to the garage and on surrounding streets. Shoppers are encouraged to bring cash, according to the release.
