ARLINGTON, VA — Most college and university students have return to their campuses for the spring semester. Over the winter break and into the new year, their schools have announced various honors achieved by students during the fall academic term.
Patch is taking this opportunity to share the achievements of local college students. Here is the latest information provided by Merit Pages News about Arlington students receiving honors from their college or university:
Samuel Yarnell of Arlington earned a spot on the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. To qualify for Hofstra's dean's list, a student has to achieve a 3.5 grade point average or above.

Anna Secrest of Arlington was named to the dean's list at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York for the 2021 fall semester. To be named to the dean's list, a student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average or above, while carrying four or more graded credits.
Cailyn Murray of Arlington was named to the dean's list at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania for the fall 2021 semester. Muhlenberg College School of Continuing Studies students must earn a GPA of 3.50 or higher to be named to the dean's list.

Gina DeLancey of Arlington, Virginia is one of the 1,300-plus cadets and students recognized for their academic achievements during the fall 2021 semester at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. She was named to the dean's list for the semester by earning a 3.2 GPA and having no grade below C.
Braden T. Shackelford of Arlington, was named to the 2021 fall semester dean's list at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia. Shackelford, health and exercise science major, earned the honor by posting a 3.4 or grade point average or above.
The following students from Arlington participated the Georgia Institute of Technology's 261st commencement exercises Dec.17-18, 2021, at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta:
Tyler Hamashima, master of science in computer science
Luke Wileczek, master of science in analytics
James Tayloe, bachelor of science in aerospace engineering with highest honors
Isabella Ellingsworth of Arlington was named to the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. Full-time students are named to the dean's list by earning a 3.5 GPA or above.
Casey Richmond of Arlington from the Class of 2024, was named to the fall 2021 honors list at Pomfret School in Pomfret, Connecticut. To achieve this level of distinction, Richmond earned a grade point average of at least 3.330 and received no grade lower than a B.
The following Arlington students have earned degrees from University of Maryland Global Campus in fall 2021:
- Nicholaus Farris, a student in the associate of arts
- La-Shona Ferguson, bachelor of science, business administration
Powell Shiau of Arlington graduated with a doctor of chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic's Florida campus in Port Orange, Florida, on Sept. 24, 2021.
