ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington Community Federal Credit Union awarded $30,000 in grants to organizations in Northern Virginia focused on housing opportunity, financial education and workforce development.

Friends of Guest House runs a workforce and life development program that helps clients reenter the community after incarceration. The Alexandria-based nonprofit has helped more than 4,000 women in Northern Virginia since its founding in 1974.
“These funds helped us strengthen our workforce development programming, including critical target areas such as financial literacy, workforce readiness, and independent living,” Friends of Guest House Executive Director Sonja Allen said in a statement.

Arlington Community FCU's proposed merger requires approval from the National Credit Union Administration and must be approved by InFirst FCU's members. The merger is expected to be completed in early 2023.
