Arlington Eateries Celebrate Pi Day With Sweet, Savory Deals

ARLINGTON, VA — Several local businesses in Arlington will be celebrating Pi Day on Saturday, March 14 with special deals on pies.

The first Pi Day was organized in 1988 by Larry Shaw at the Exploratorium in San Francisco as a way to celebrate the mathematical symbol π, which is used to calculate the area, volume, and circumference of a circle.

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 because it occurs on the third month of the year and on the 14th day, which is abbreviated 3/14, the first three figures of π (3.14159).

These Arlington businesses will be offering special deals on traditional sweet or savory pies and pizza pies on Saturday.

• Liberty Tavern will offer 10-inch pies for $10 all day. Guests can enjoy several best sellers, including the Dude, Chicken Parm Pie, and Vermont. The restaurant is located at 3195 Wilson Blvd.
