ARLINGTON, VA — In a roundup of restaurants he dined at in March, Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema reported that Istanbul Grill in Arlington served him one of his favorite meals.

"I can’t get the calamari out of my mind," Sietsema writes. " [Chef Turgut] Yigit marinates the seafood in a simple bath of mineral water, salt and sugar for a few days before dredging pieces in gluten-free flour and frying them to a pale gold. Little coins of fried zucchini lend some color, and a dip of housemade tartar sauce cools what’s hot." In particular, he praised the doner kabab, which he called a deal of a meal for $21."

Located at 4617 Wilson Blvd. in Arlington, Istanbul Grill offers indoor and outdoor dining, with entrees ranging in price from $18 to $35.
