Arlington Man Accused Of Assaulting Police Officer: Report
Arlington County Police arrested a local man after a Saturday morning dispute in the Old Dominion area became physical.

ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington man is facing multiple charges, including assault on a police officer, after a verbal dispute in the Old Dominion area escalated Saturday morning, according to the Arlington County Police Department's daily crime report.
Officers were dispatched around 9:34 a.m., for the report of an assault in the 4700 block of Lee Highway. The officers determined that a verbal dispute had escalated between the victim and suspect, during which the suspect pushed the victim and threw an object at his vehicle. As the victim tried to move his vehicle away, he called police. The suspect chased after the vehicle, throwing a cup at it. The officers apprehended the suspect without incident. The victim was not injured.
As the officers were attempting to place the suspect into a transport vehicle, he began to get aggressive and actively resisted, according to police. The man kicked the door of the vehicle, causing it to hit one of the officers in the head, police said. The officer received a minor injury.

ACPD arrested John Hemphill, 52, of Arlington, and charged him with assault and battery on police, assault and battery, obstruction of justice and destruction of property. He is being held without bond.
