Arlington Man Charged with Murder After Police Find Roommate Dead

Police say an argument between roommates escalated to physical violence in the Arlington Mill neighborhood Monday.

ARLINGTON, VA — Police have made an arrest following the investigation of a suspicious death in the Arlington Mill neighborhood on Monday.

Police found the body of 55-year-old Michael Wiggins of Arlington in an apartment in the 5100 block of 7th Road S shortly after 2 p.m. on Jan. 30, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

After interviewing three people at the scene of the crime, police arrested 28-year-old Heber Amaya-Gallo of Arlington on a charge of first-degree murder. He is being held at the Arlington County Detention Facility without bond.

Police determined the other two people were witnesses and have not charged them.

Police think roommates at the residence got into an argument that became physical, which resulted in the death of Wiggins, although the Medical Examiner's Office is still working on determining an official cause of death.
