Arlington Moped Driver Killed Thursday

Jerry Knight, 51, was wearing his helmet; he was found next to his moped on I-66 exit ramp to Falls Church. Police are seeking witnesses.

An Arlington man was killed Thursday afternoon after his moped crashed exiting eastbound I-66 to Falls Church, according to Virginia State Police.

At 4:35 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 27), Virginia State Police Trooper T.J. Patrick responded to a single-vehicle crash along Interstate 66 at the Falls Church exit ramp I67 mile marker) in Fairfax County.

A black 2012 Intercept moped was lying on its side near the left curb of the exit ramp with severe damage, according to police. Its rider, Jerry Knight, 51, of Arlington, was found deceased next to the moped. Knight was wearing a helmet, police said.

There were no other vehicles at the scene when police arrived, but Trooper Patrick’s investigation revealed that the moped did collide with another vehicle.
