Arlington Parks Cancels Programs Due To Coronavirus
The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department is canceling a number of programs and activities due to the coronavirus.
ARLINGTON, VA —The Arlington Department of Parks and Recreation is canceling a number of upcoming activities and programs due to concerns over the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.
Earlier on Friday, March 13, Arlington Public Schools interim Superintendent Cintia Z. Johnsonannounced that county schools would be closed until April 14. Based on that decision and concern about keeping residents at safe social distance of six feet during its activities, DPR chose Friday to make the following adjustments to its scheduled activities:
Effective immediately, all DPR activities and programs are canceled until April 20, including:

- Open Bounce at Madison
- Skate Night & Skate Birthday Parties
- After School Teen Program
- Scheduled Birthday Parties
- Community Center Gymnasium Drop-In Activities
- DPR Fitness Rooms and TJ Fitness Center
- Barcroft Sports & Fitness Center
Effective March 16, the following facility rentals are canceled:
- Trails
- Picnic shelters
- Community center rooms
- Hendry House Rentals
DPR sports leagues are canceled effective March 16. However, this weekend's indoor and outdoor DPR sports leagues will play games, but no fans will be admitted.

DPR will issue refunds for all canceled rentals and activities.
On Thursday, Arlington County released the guidelines to help community groups determine which gatherings are necessary and which can be postponed or canceled.
