Arlington Public Schools Make Weather Decision For Return From Winter Break

Arlington Public Schools had planned classes to resume Jan. 3, but weather will delay students' return.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County students were scheduled to return to school Monday following their winter break, but inclement weather has changed those plans.

Despite warm weather in the 60s on Sunday, a cold front is expected to sweep through the Washington, D.C. region overnight, bringing colder temperatures, sleet and snow for Monday morning's commute, forecasters said. The area is expected to receive 3-7 inches of snow

All Arlington Public Schools will be closed Monday due to the inclement weather, according to an alert on the APS website.

All schools an offices will be closed on Monday, as well as any activities or programs on school grounds.

Custodial and maintenance staff must report to work as normal at 6 a.m., unless directed otherwise by their supervisors.
