Will Arlington Students Head Back To School Thursday Or Continue Frolicking In The Snow?

Arlington Public Schools makes a decision on whether students will have another snow day on Thursday.

Correction (Jan. 6, 8:46 a.m.): An earlier version of this story based on a Twitter post from Wednesday afternoon reported that school was open on Thursday. This story has been updated to correct that.

ARLINGTON, VA — After a three-day delay due to Monday's snowstorm and its aftermath, Arlington Public Schools will be closed again on Thursday, according to an APS post on its official Twitter account.

Earlier in the day, APS said that schools and APS offices would be open on Thursday. Since many primary and secondary streets in Arlington still needed to be cleared and surrounding jurisdictions were closed on Thursday, APS decided to do the same.

The threat of more snow being dumped on communities still recovering from Monday's storm prompted Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam to declare a state of emergency on Wednesday evening.
