Arlington Ranked the Best City to Live in the United States

A new ranking from Niche, a school and neighborhood analysis website, puts Arlington at No. 1 among 224 cities.

A website that helps users discover the best schools and neighborhoods has combed through 224 cities in the United States and has found the best one to live in: Arlington.

The website Niche analyzes "dozens of public data sets and millions of reviews to produce comprehensive rankings, report cards, and profiles for every K-12 school, college, and neighborhood in the U.S.," according to a statement. For this ranking, they weighed crime, public schools, cost of living, job opportunities and local amenities using data from the U.S. Census, FBI, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and a number of other sources.

Arlington beat out Cambridge, Mass. for the top spot, as well as nearby Columbia, Md., which came in third. Alexandria, Va. was 13th on the list.

Arlington received many A+ ratings, with a B- in every single category except one: cost of living, to no one's surprise, which Niche scored a C-.

Arlington earned top marks in education, public schools, health and fitness and nightlife.

The city got an A or A- in diversity, shortest commute, family amenities and outdoor activities.

Scoring not as well but good enough to get in the B range were jobs, weather and real estate.

The crime and safety grade was not available.
