Arlington Restaurant Violations: Beware The 7-Eleven Hot Display
Arlington County reported critical violations at 7-Eleven, Hula Girl, and Upper Crust Pizzeria according to inspections on June 20.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County regularly conducts inspections of local restaurants. Reports are generally posted about a week after the inspection. We've listed the three restaurants with some of the most serious or interesting violations -- including some poorly heated food at 7-Eleven -- from inspections at Arlington restaurants on June 20, the most recent date available.

Critical violation: Observation (REPEAT) (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Chicken wings (94F), sausage (97F) and pepperoni pizza (110F) in "Vendo" hot holding display and chicken sandwich (98F) in "Wiso" hot holding display were observed at improper hot holding temperature.
Critical violation: Observation (REPEAT) (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Half-n-half (51F) in half-n-half dispenser was observed at improper cold holding temperature. The unit was observed at 50F.

Non-critical violation: Observation (REPEAT): "Vendo hot holding display and half-n-half dispenser are not maintained in good repair.
Hula Girl Bar and Grill, 4044 S. Campbell St

Critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A food employee failed to wash his or her hands before donning gloves for working with food.
Critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Food employee was preparing a ready to eat sandwich with her bare hands, no gloves.
Critical violation: Observation: The inside of the ice machine needs cleaning.
Critical violation: Observation: The food establishment is not under the immediate control of a Northern Virginia certified food manager.
Critical violation: Observation: The bar dishwashing machine is not ejecting sanitizer. Use the dishwashing machine in the kitchen and call for service.
Non-critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The hand sink by the ice machine is without paper towels.
Non-critical violation: Observation: A sign or poster that notifies food employees to wash their hands is not provided at the bar hand sink.
Non-critical violation: Observation (REPEAT): Working containers used for storing poisonous or toxic materials are not clearly and/or individually identified with the common name of the material.
Upper Crust Pizzeria

Violations: 4
Critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): employees observed touching pizza slices with bare hands.
Critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The pizza sauce and cooked pizzas for which time only, rather than time in conjunction with temperature control, was/were not cooked, served if ready-to-eat, or discarded, within 4 hours from the point in time when the food was/were removed from temperature control - (corrected by instructions).
Critical violation: Observation: No NoVA-CFM on duty.
Non-critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): No batteries in the soap dispenser at pizza prep station.
