Arlington Woman Charged in $16,000 Welfare Fraud Case

Police say woman obtained SNAP, Medicaid and Energy Assistance under false pretenses.

Arlington County Police announced Wednesday that an Arlington resident has been charged with welfare fraud and forgery of a public record.

Police say that Brittani Spinner, 29, of 2400 block of S. Army Navy Drive in Arlington was arrested and charged after she obtained more than $16,000 in SNAP, Medicaid and Energy Assistance under false pretenses.

SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

If you see or hear about SNAP fraud, you can contact the U.S. Food and Nutrition Service.

You can also report fraud to your State. This is especially important if you think that someone lied about their income or assets, or is misusing their benefits, the USDA points out.
