ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington youth soccer team is raising money to help cover travel costs after qualifying for a national competition in California.

The Arlington 2013 Boys ECNL team placed first in the Mid-Atlantic Division, earning a spot in the national playoffs in San Diego, according to a GoFundMe organized by Kelly Sanguino. The fundraiser says donations will help pay for airfare, hotels and meals so every player can participate.

As of the GoFundMe page’s latest available total, the campaign had raised $4,500 toward a $5,500 goal from 38 donations. The fundraiser was created May 29.

“Every donation will go directly toward helping the team travel to San Diego and compete at the national level,” the fundraiser says.
