The Art Institute of Washington is Feeding Arlington Neighborhoods in Need during Hunger Action Month
During Hunger Action Month, The Art Institute of Washington is partnering with the Arlington Food Assistance Center to help end hunger
Twenty percent or more of the child population in 38 states and D.C. lived in food-insecure households, according to the most recent data available by Feeding America. The District of Columbia (31%) had the highest rates of children in households without consistent access to food.
During Hunger Action Month, The Art Institute of Washington is partnering with the Arlington Food Assistance Center to help end hunger. AFAC is a community-based non-profit that provides supplemental groceries to our Arlington neighbors in need.
During the month of September, The Art Institute of Washington is supporting AFAC events and hosting a culinary food demonstration at the center located at 2708 S Nelson St in Arlington, Virginia.

- Ai Washington Chef Demo:
Chefs will create healthy recipes using bread, an item that many residents in Arlington receive at that the food bank. Some examples include: "Ways to use French bread”

3. French toast on French bread

Faculty, students and staff will volunteer at AFAC to feed the hungry
Students are also designing food boxes that will be placed around Arlington pick-up centers. The boxes will be ready by October, just in time for the November food bank launch.
