Assault, Drug Charges Filed In Suspected Unlawful Entry At Douglas Park Home
Arlington County police arrested a 47-year-old man they say forced his way into a Douglas Park home with a knife on Saturday afternoon.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 47-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including assault and battery, in connection to a incident that occurred inside a Douglas Park residence on Saturday afternoon.
Police were dispatched around 1:30 p.m. for the report of a burglary in the 1100 block of South Thomas Street.
"It was determined the female victim was inside her residence when the male suspect, who is known to her, allegedly forced entry into the home and a closed bedroom," according to the daily crime report. "The suspect displayed what appeared to be a knife and made threatening statements before subsequently fleeing the scene."

The officers searched the area and located a man who matched the description of the suspect in the area of Columbia Pike and South Dinwiddie Street, according to the report. During the arrest, the officers recovered suspected narcotics.
Police charged the suspect, identified as Franklin Washington of an undetermined address, with burglary, assault and battery, possession of Schedule I/II controlled substance and attempted unlawful entry, according to police. He was held without bond.

On Monday morning, Washington was arraigned and had a bond hearing in Arlington General District Court, according to court records. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on June 11. He remains in custody.
The most serious charge Washington is facing is entering a house while armed to commit larceny, which is a Class 2 felony. If convicted on that charge, he faces a potential sentence of 20 years to life in prison and a maximum fine of $100,000, under the Code of Virginia.
Washington is due back in Arlington General District Court on April 22 for a preliminary hearing on a misdemeanor unlawful entry charge in connection to a Dec. 21, 2025 arrest, court records say.
