Assault On Police, Drug Charges Filed Against Fairfax Man: ACPD
Arlington County Police arrested a 25-year-old Fairfax man early Monday following a traffic stop on Columbia Pike.
ARLINGTON, VA — A 25-year-old Fairfax man faces multiple charges, including assault on a police officer, following a traffic stop early Monday morning in the Columbia Forest area.
Around 12:29 a.m., an Arlington County Police officer noticed a person sitting inside a vehicle with stolen tags in a parking lot in the 5500 block of Columbia Pike.
With the help of other officers, a traffic stop was conducted, but the driver reversed his vehicle into a police crusier, hit a fence, parked and then tried to flee the scene, according to police.

Officers attempted to take the man into custody as he exited the vehicle but he resisted and failed to follow the officers' orders, according to police. Eventually, the man was taken into custody.
While he was in custody, the suspect provide fake personal information about his identity, according to police.

Investigators determined that the man, whom they identified as Ahmed Abuelhassan, was wanted in another jurisdiction and that the vehicle had been stone out of Fairfax County, according to police. They also recovered suspected narcotics during the investigation.
ACPD charged Abuelhassan assault on police, unauthorized use of a vehicle and identity theft. Abuelhassan was also charged on two counts each of destruction of property, possession with intent to distribute controlled substance and possession of schedule I/II narcotics. He was then held without bond.
