Assault On Police, DUI Charges Filed Against Arlington Woman

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested a 25-year-old woman on Thursday night in connection with a two-vehicle crash and an assault on a police officer in the Lyon Park area.

Officers we called to the Washington Boulevard at 3rd Street N. round 9:47 p.m. for the report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries, according to ACPD.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a woman was traveling eastbound on Washington Boulevard when she struck a parked vehicle, which was occupied. The woman then fled the scene, driving west on Washington Boulevard. However, she struck another vehicle, which caused her vehicle to flip over, according to police. No injuries were reported to the occupants of the two struck vehicles.

Officers detained the driver of the striking vehicle, whom the identified as Malesha Bruner of Arlington. They then transported Bruner to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation. At the hospital, Bruner became aggressive and grabbed the handle of an officer's firearm, before being restrained, according to FCPD.

Police charged Bruner with assault on police, disarming a police officer, driving under the influence, hit and run and no driver’s license. She was held without bond.
