Ballston-MU Bus Bay Closures To Affect Many Metrobus Routes

BALLSTON, VA — To make way for the Ballston-MU Multimodal Improvements Project, the Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority (WMATA) will be temporarily closing several Metrobus bays near the Metrorail station.

Starting Sunday, bus bays A,B,C,D, and J will be closed, which will impact a number of Metrobus routes. The changes will also cause many detours as the buses alter their routes to access the new bays.

Bus passengers will be able to board and exit buses at new temporary bays on Fairfax Drive.

The following is a list of the new temporary bus bays and the Metrobus routes they wills serve beginning Sunday:

Temporary Bus Bay T2 (Northbound on N. Stuart Street):

• 23A, 23T westbound towards Tysons Corner
• 38B eastbound towards Farragut Square
• 38B westbound towards Ballston-MU

Temporary Bus Bay T3 (Northbound on N. Stuart Street):

• 2A eastbound towards Ballston-MU
• 2A westbound towards Dunn Loring

Bus Bay E (Eastbound on Fairfax Drive):

• 25B northbound towards Ballston-MU
• 25B southbound towards Southern Towers

Bus Bay F (Eastbound on Fairfax Drive):

• 1A eastbound towards Ballston-MU
• 1A westbound towards Vienna

Bus Bay G (Eastbound on Fairfax Drive):

• 10B northbound towards Ballston-MU
• 10B southbound towards Hunting Point
• 22A eastbound towards Pentagon Transit Center
• 22A westbound towards Ballston-MU

Bus Bay H (Eastbound on Fairfax Drive):

• 23A eastbound towards Crystal City
• 23A westbound towards Tysons Corner

2A Washington Boulevard-Dunn Loring eastbound toward Ballston-MU

• Buses begin detouring on Fairfax Drive at N. Glebe Road, ending service at Bus Bay T3 at Ballston-MU Metrorail station.

2A Washington Boulevard-Dunn Loring westbound toward Dunn Loring

• Buses begin detouring on N. Stuart Street at Bus Bay T3, resuming regular route on N. Glebe Road at 11th St N.

10B Hunting Point-Ballston northbound towards Ballston-MU

• Buses begin detouring on Wilson Blvd at N. Randolph St, ending service at Bus Bay G at Ballston-MU Metrorail station.
