Barcroft 1-Day Coronavirus Testing Site Open To Public On Friday

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County is hosting another one-day free testing site in an effort to stem the spread of COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus. This is the second time the county has hosted such an event under the sponsorship of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The drive-thru and walk-up testing site will be open Friday, June 19, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Barcroft Sport and Fitness Center (4200 S. Four Mile Run Drive). Tests will be administered until supplies run out. The first one-day event on May 26 closed at 1:30 p.m., after all of the tests had been administered.

“Our first large-scale testing event at Barcroft was very successful in providing access to those residents who may not otherwise be able to obtain testing and information,” said Dr. Reuben Varghese, Arlington Public Health Director, in a release. “These are residents who may be at higher risk of exposure, and so we wanted to offer another opportunity to reach as many of these residents as we can through this effort.”

Friday's testing event is free. People seeking tests must wear a mask or face covering. Individuals do not have to be symptomatic nor do they have to have a doctor's note or appointment. No identification is needed and translation services will be provided. Patients will be notified by phone once test results become available.

Individuals seeking a test will not be allow on Barcroft Sports & Fitness Center property before 7:30 a.m. Those walking up to the facility must access the center through the Tucker Field entrance. For drive-up testing, vehicles must enter from eastbound Four Mile Run Drive near George Mason Drive.

Arlington County also continues to operate appointment-only testing at two sites: one at 1429 North Quincy St., and the other at the Arlington Mill Community Center (909 South Dinwiddie St.). Both sites are operating in partnership with Virginia Hospital Center, with the Arlington Free Clinic co-partnering the Arlington Mill site.
