Boy Seriously Injured In Stabbing On Custis Trail In Arlington: Police

A boy who was running on Custis Trail, near where it goes under Washington Blvd. in Arlington, was stabbed and seriously injured Saturday.

ARLINGTON, VA — A boy who was running on Custis Trail, near where it goes under Washington Blvd. in Arlington, was stabbed and seriously injured Saturday night, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

The unknown male suspect approached the boy around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, stabbed him and fled the scene on foot, police said. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries considered serious but not life-threatening, according to police.

The incident happened on the Custis Trail, near the intersection of Washington Blvd. and N. Glebe Road. Police officers administered medical care to the boy until medics arrived on the scene, police said.

Arlington County Police issued a lookout for the suspect. With the help of a police helicopter, police searched the area for the suspect, but did not find him.

“The victim described the suspect as an Asian or Hispanic male wearing a striped shirt and shorts,” police said.

The Custis Trail is a paved bicycle, running and walking trail that runs parallel to Interstate 66 from the W&OD Trail in the Bluemont neighborhood to Rossyln.
