Burglar Rummages Through 30 Cars in Arlington, Flees After Neighbor Catches Him: Police

Police say a witness confronted the man after spotting him in a neighbor's vehicle, prompting the suspect to flee.

ARLINGTON, VA — Police are looking for a man who burglarized around 30 unlocked vehicles over the weekend and then fled the scene when somebody noticed him in a neighbor's car and confronted him.

Police were called to the 6000 block of 23rd Street N at around 6:11 a.m. on Feb. 25 to a report of someone tampering with an auto, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

"A witness confronted a suspect he observed inside a neighbor’s vehicle. The suspect fled the scene in a maroon colored sedan," the report states. "The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’10” and weighing 160 lbs. He was wearing a black hoodie and black pants at the time of the incident."

Police canvassed the area and discovered that about 30 unlocked vehicles had been entered and numerous items had been stolen, according to the report.
