Trombonist Al Cron leads a powerhouse quartet bringing together standout voices from the Boston and New York jazz scenes. Known for his rich tone, lyrical improvisation, and engaging originals, Cron’s music draws from the soulful tradition of the Blue Note era while embracing the energy of modern jazz. A longtime presence on the New England scene, he has performed and toured with artists including Aretha Franklin, Johnny Mathis, The Temptations, and the Artie Shaw Orchestra, and has released recordings including The Prowl and Circles and Roots.
Featured in the group is internationally acclaimed vibraphonist Hendrik Meurkens, one of the most distinctive voices on vibraphone and chromatic harmonica in jazz today. A Berklee graduate based in New York, Meurkens is celebrated for his vibrant blend of straight-ahead jazz and Brazilian influences, and has performed with legends including Ray Brown, Jimmy Cobb, Paquito D’Rivera, and Charlie Byrd.
With bassist Joe Fitzgerald and drummer Steve Johns, veterans of the NYC jazz scene, the quartet delivers a swinging, melodic, and highly interactive performance featuring original music, fresh takes on jazz standards, and inspired improvisation.
