Arlington artist Jose Quinonez will exhibit his paintings at Idylwood Studios from September 12 through October 14 in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The exhibit, titled Threads of Culture, Threads of Memory, invites visitors to experience work that promotes inclusivity, appreciation for diversity, cultural memory, and connection to one another and to nature.
Quinonez’s paintings feature vibrant colors, detailed textures, and meaningful symbolism from across the globe. Each piece honors the spiritual gifts passed down through generations while celebrating the beauty of diversity and the relationships that connect communities.
During the exhibition, Quinonez will donate 20% of all sales to Just Neighbors, a DMV nonprofit organization that provides high-quality immigration legal services to low-income immigrants, asylees, and refugees in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Just Neighbors also works to build community among clients, staff, volunteers, and the larger society through education, advocacy, and volunteerism.
Visitors can attend the opening reception on Saturday, September 12, from 1–3 p.m.; an Artist’s Talk on October 3 at 2 p.m.; or open studio times throughout the month. A representative from Just Neighbors will also attend the opening reception to share updates on the organization’s legal services, advocacy, and volunteer opportunities.
Idylwood Studios is a community-focused art gallery and studio space located on the upper level of Idylwood Presbyterian Church at 7617 Idylwood Rd, Falls Church, VA 22043. Please note that the gallery is currently accessible only by an iron staircase.
