When Zeus’s lightning bolt is stolen, Percy becomes the prime suspect due to his father’s rivalry with Zeus. Percy receives a riddle from the Oracle that calls him to retrieve the bolt and prove his innocence. Armed with his newly formed powers, he embarks on a quest alongside his new friends Annabeth and Grover. Not only does he have to retrieve the bolt, but he must travel to the underworld, decode the riddle that warns him of a great betrayal, and come to terms with his father abandoning him.
