Celebrate Earth Day At These 5 Arlington Events
Several events are scheduled to celebrate Earth Day in Arlington County this weekend, including both in-person and virtual events.
ARLINGTON, VA — Several events are scheduled to celebrate Earth Day in Arlington County this weekend, including both in-person and virtual events.
The first Earth Day celebration took place 52 years ago, in 1970, as a day of environmental education. Since then, it has grown to include a diverse range of events in the U.S. and around the world.

Earth Day Cleanup at Bon Air Park: EcoAction Arlington, a project of the Arlington County Department of Public Works, will be removing trash and debris from Bon Air Park and Four Mile Run on Saturday as part of its annual tribute to Earth Day.
Residents can volunteer from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Visit the EcoAction Arlington website to register for the Earth Day cleanup event, which will occur at 850 N Lexington Street.

EcoAction Arlington will have on hand extra gloves, all the trash and recycle bags needed, a First Aid Kit, extra masks and hand sanitizer.
Spring E-CARE Event: Arlington County is hosting its twice-a-year E-CARE event on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Yorktown High School where residents can dispose of household hazardous materials, batteries, bicycles, small metal and many other items.
Cleanup on the W&OD with Bike & WalkArlington: Mark Celebrate Trails Day by joining WalkArlington and BikeArlington on Saturday on the Washington & Old Dominion Trail to clean up litter and debris. The event will start at Mile 1.5 of the W&OD Trail, which is where the trail intersects with Columbia Pike.
Refreshments, water and some fun giveaways will be provided as a thank-you to all who come out for the cleanup. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
EarthFest 2022: Log on to the EarthFest 2022 on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. on Facebook Live to learn about recycling in Arlington, how to make your own recycled planters, and upcycled art. The event offers fun for all ages. All activity videos will be available on the EarthFest website starting on Saturday.
Earth Day, Every Day Festival: On Sunday, visit the Lee Heights Shops on Langston Blvd. for the Earth Day Every Day Festival. The family-friendly event runs from noon to 5 p.m and will feature environmentally themed family activities, art and music.
