County May Spend Over $5M To Replace Heating At Justice Center

The Arlington County Board will vote Saturday on spending up to $5.5 million to replace the heating system at the County Justice Center.

ARLINGTON, VA — The Arlington County Board will vote this Saturday on dishing out up to $5.5 million on replacing the old heating system at the Justice Center.

The courthouse complex at 1425 and 1435 N. Courthouse Road is home to local courts, Arlington County Police Department headquarters, the Arlington County jail, and the Sheriff's Office.

"The primary intent of this contract is to replace a total of (6) six boilers and (4) four domestic hot water tanks that have reached the end of their useful lives and are in constant repairs," staff wrote to the board.

Thankfully, the replacement of a kitchen dishwater at the Arlington Country Detention Facility would also be included in the million dollar construction deal.

The Arlington Board will vote on awarding the lucrative contract to the construction and services company Limbach Holdings, Inc. The company made a bid for the contract on Sept. 11 for close to $1 million less than the next bidder.

The Limbach contract includes a base pay for the contractor of $4,784,880, and an additional order contingency of $717,732.

Arlington County policy dictates that any capital construction contract of $250,000 or more requires approval from the board.

The complete description of the county board agenda item for the contract is available to the public.
