Creepy Clown Reported in Arlington: Report

A child reported a clown waving at cars, but police weren't able to find anything suspicious.

ARLINGTON, VA — The creepy clown craze is sweeping the nation, and now it appears Arlington is the latest to have a sighting.

Police were called to the 800 block of S. Frederick Street at around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 6 to a report of a suspicious person -- specifically, a clown, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

"The juvenile reporting party advised that she had observed a male subject dressed as a clown waving at passing vehicles," the report states. "There was approximately a half hour delay in reporting to police."

After searching the area, police turned up nothing suspicious.

There's been a series of creepy clown sightings across the country lately, and some have been downright scary. For example, in one incident in Greenville, S.C., clowns were attempting to lure children into the woods. Other sightings were reported in Alabama, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Maryland and many other states.
