April 2, 1963 to February 7, 2017

David Byron Monroe, age 53, of Arlington Virginia passed away in the early morning hours at his Mother’s home in Williamsburg on February 7, 2017. He is survived by his mother, Ellen Monroe, his father, Charles P. Monroe, his sister, Joyce Monroe, and the love of his life Vanessa McIntyre.

David was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 2, 1963 and lived in Pleasant Hill, CA for a short time before living the remainder of his life in Northern Virginia. He excelled as a Student-Athlete at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Virginia where he graduated in 1981 as the Class Salutatorian.

David attended James Madison University where he graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. David was an active member of the JMU student body and was proud to be an honorable and dutiful member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

His professional career had David at the forefront of the wireless communications phenomenon as he worked for AAA Networks to deliver a variety of pioneering wireless communications solutions that truly disrupted and changed the way business was done. His accomplishments included the deployment of a wireless push-to-talk solution that connected board certified Radiologists with ailing patients and imaging technologists thousands of miles away in rural towns without university quality medicine. This in turn changed the delivery of interventional radiology and was core to the birth of emergency and acute care Tele-Radiology in the United States.

David later focused his career on helping others; providing his customers with supplemental Healthcare coverage, financial planning, and insurance policies. David interest’s included sports, broadcasting, music and any activity or event where he could connect and interact with others.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield, VA on February 25th at 1pm. The family asks that any gifts or donations be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
