DC Man Arrested Following Scuffle At Pentagon Metro Station: Police

ARLINGTON, VA — A 33-year-old Washington, D.C. man is facing multiple charges, including assaulting a police officer, in connection with a reported robbery on Friday afternoon in Pentagon City.

Around 2:39 p.m., a loss prevention officer flagged down an officer in the 1100 block of S. Joyce Street, according to Arlington County Police. The officer was responding to another call for service concerning the report of a robbery.

The officer determined that a man had entered a Pentagon City business, began concealing merchandise and then left the business without paying. Once outside, the man was confronted by loss prevention personnel. In reaction, he verbally threatened them and implied that he was armed. He then left the area on foot, according to police.

An officer found the suspect in the Pentagon Metro Station, where the officer ordered the man to stop. The man refused to comply. Eventually, two officers took the man into custody with the help of the loss prevention personnel. During the scuffle, the two officers received minor injuries.

The suspect, who was identified as Carlos Brummitt of Washington, D.C., gave false personal information during the arrest, according to police. He was charged with assault on police, robbery, identity theft and obstruction of justice and then held without bond.
