Demolition Of Arlington Fire Station To Begin In Early May
Arlington County will begin demolishing Fire Station 8 during the week of May 2 and expects to complete demolition by the week of June 20.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County will begin demolishing the Fire Station 8 structure during the week of May 2 and expects to complete demolition by the week of June 20.
The demolition of the fire station, at 4845 Langston Blvd., will be in preparation for construction of the long-awaited new fire station at the same site. Demolition work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Prior to demolition, Arlington County will install erosion and sediment controls and stormwater pollution prevention.

Once the demolition begins, dump trucks will carry away debris. Two fuel tanks will be demolished after the building is removed. Small trees near the corner of Langston Blvd and N. Culpeper St. will also be removed.
The demolition project will include utility work on N. Culpeper St. and Langston Blvd.

In September 2015, the Arlington County Board appointed the Fire Station No. 8 Task Force and charged the group with reviewing siting options for a replacement station. Areas north of the current location were considered, but the task force ultimately voted to build the new fire station at its current location.
In January 2017, the County Board approved the acquisition of three parcels adjacent to the current location to use as a temporary location for Fire Station No. 8 while the new one is being built.
The Fire Station No. 8 History and Legacy working group was established in January 2018 and charged to develop and recommend strategies to honor the history and legacy of the Hall’s Hill/High View Park Volunteer Fire Department and Fire Station No. 8.
