Drunk Driver Smashes into Police Car on I-395, Injures Officers: Police
A Maryland man faces a host of charges after a brutal crash on I-395 over the weekend.
ARLINGTON, VA — Police have arrested a Maryland man on a litany of serious charges after they say he crashed into a police car on northbound Interstate 395 early Saturday morning, injuring two officers with debris.
Police say that the patrol car was unoccupied, but two officers were nearby when a car driven by 27-year-old Julio Cesar Marcia Castro of Fort Washington, Md. collided with it. The officers had just made a traffic stop on the highway, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.
Arlington County medics had to pull Castro from the vehicle and sent him to George Washington University Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The two officers were struck with debris from the crash, and they were sent to Virginia Hospital Center. They were released shortly after.

Officers determined the Castro was under the influence of alcohol at the time, the report states. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (3+ offense or 2+ felony offense), driving with a suspended license and driving with DUI suspended license (3+ offense in 10 years).
