Arlington Children And Nature Network Winter Nature Celebration: Have a Ball in Ballston

It's not too cold outside to celebrate nature -- even if we have to bring a little nature indoors!

To celebrate winter in all its frosty glory, the Arlington Children And Nature Network (CANN) welcomes Arlingtonians of all ages to Have a Ball in Ballston on February 19 with a Winter Nature Celebration at Ballston Common Mall!

How do you celebrate nature inside a shopping mall?  Invite Arlington County Nature Center staff and their animal friends to host live animal visits and play winter games, Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment volunteers to lead nature crafts, Kettler Capitals Iceplex to hand out ice skating coupons, and WalkArlington to lead a kid-friendly Ballston Walkabout, and top it off with refreshments including hot beverages, courtesy of Chick-fil-A!

The Winter Nature Celebration kicks off at 10:00 a.m. in the Food Court on the lower level of Ballston Common Mall, 4238 Wilson Boulevard, with crafts, games, and nature activities. At 10:30 a.m., WalkArlington leads a three-stop, kid-sized Ballston Walkabout indoors and out, including a stop at Kettler Capitals Iceplex and prizes for participants. When the Walkabout concludes around 11:15 a.m., walkers are invited to return to the Food Court for more crafts, games, and activities, as well as refreshments from Chick-fil-A. The Celebration concludes at 2:00 p.m.

 CANN’s Winter Nature Celebration is FREE and open to the public.

In the event of inclement weather, we will follow Arlington Public Schools announcements for weekend activities. The snow date for the event is Saturday, February 26.
