Female Driver, 28, Dies in Crash on George Washington Parkway

The car she was driving hit a tree early Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Park Police.

A 28-year-old Maryland woman was killed over the weekend after the car she was driving hit a tree on the George Washington Parkway, according to a spokeswoman for the U.S. Park Police.

The Arlington County Fire Department and the U.S. Park Police responded to the crash early Sunday, at about 4:20 a.m., said Sgt. Anna Rose, public information officer for the U.S. Park Police.

Driver Lucy Camella Green of Forestville, Md. was declared dead at the scene by the Arlington County Fire Department after her car hit a tree on the righthand side of the roadway. She was driving southbound on the Parkway and hit a tree after passing the Spout Run exit, according to the U.S. Park Police.

Green, who was driving a 1999 Chevy Cavalier, was wearing a seat belt, U.S. Park Police said. Road conditions were dry, police said.

Southbound lanes were closed Sunday morning until 9:30 a.m., while police investigated the crash.
