Fight Over Aretha Franklin Leads To Shooting In Virginia: Report
Two men in Southeast Virginia reportedly got into an argument over who will play Aretha Franklin in an upcoming movie.

SUFFOLK, VA -- A man was shot in Suffolk on Thursday after getting into an argument over Aretha Franklin, according to reports.
WJLA reports that two men started squabbling over whether actress Halle Berry played Franklin -- who died this week -- in a movie.
Fox News reports that 44-year-old Michael Hatton drew a firearm and shot 47-year-old Tony Lundy at least once. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition, and Hatton was jailed without bond.

A biopic about Franklin is in the works, but Jennifer Hudson will play the role.
Franklin told TV host Wendy Williams in 2011 that she wanted Halle Berry to play her in the movie, but Berry reportedly was concerned she wouldn't be able to sing well enough. In 2016, Franklin told People that she approved of Hudson taking on the project.

Franklin died of advance pancreatic cancer at the age of 76 on Thursday. The "Queen of Soul" had a career that spanned six decades and included some of the most legendary songs in American history, including "Respect," "Chain of Fools," "Think," and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman."
