ARLINGTON, VA — Cities and counties across the country continue to bring back many of the traditional Independence Day activities that were either canceled or modified the last two years.
July 4 is just around the corner, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you in 2022.

What: Maywood Fourth of July Parade
Where: Thrifton Hill Park, 2814 23rd St. N., Arlington

When: Monday, July 4, 10:05 a.m.
The Maywood community is celebrating Independence Day with a parade, which starts at 10:05 a.m., at the corner of 21st Ave. N. and N. Monroe St. and will conclude at Thrifton Hill Park with fun crafts. Families are encouraged to outfit their bikes, scooters, strollers, or walkers with their finest 4th of July decorations.
What: Bluemont’s Bell
Where: N. George Mason Drive and Wilson Blvd.
When: Monday, July 4, noon
The Bluemont neighborhood will celebrate by ringing the bell at noon on July 4. (The bell is at the corner of N. George Mason Drive and Wilson Blvd, by Fire Station 2).
What: Fairlington July 4th Parade
Where: Fairlington Fire Station on S. Abingdon St.
When: July 4 at 10 a.m.
Every year, Fairlington residents show up by the hundreds to celebrate Independence Day and participate in the annual July 4th Parade, sponsored by the Fairlington Citizens Association and Fairlington Villages.
What: Lyon Village’s 4th of July Parade
Where: Corner of Key Blvd. and N. Highland Street
When: July 4 at 11 a.m.
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the corner of Key Blvd. and N. Highland Street. Included in the parade will be antique cars and police and fire vehicles.
What: Fireworks on the National Mall in D.C.
Where: Fireworks will be launched from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
When: The 17-minute display will be held on Monday, July 4 starting at 9:09 p.m.
Arlingtonians don't have to cross the river to view the fireworks. There are several places in Virginia to view the show, including Gravelly Point, Key Bridge, and the Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima) and Netherlands Carillon. To reach the last three viewing spots, take Metrorail to the Rosslyn station and walk south toward Arlington Cemetery.
One of the main fireworks viewing spots in Arlington, the Air Force Memorial, will be closed on Monday, July 4 due to the ongoing Arlington National Cemetery expansion project.
What: 42nd annual Capitol Fourth concert
Where: National Mall
When: The 42nd annual Capitol Fourth concert on PBS will begin at 8 p.m. ET, with country music singer and four-time Grammy-nominee Mickey Guyton serving as host of the event from D.C.
Guyton will lead an all-star cast in a patriotic evening of musical performances by top stars from pop, country, R&B, classical and Broadway featuring the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of premier pops conductor Jack Everly.
Capping off the concert broadcast on PBS will be live coverage of the fireworks display on the National Mall captured by multiple cameras stationed around the city.
