Flu Vaccine Shots Available at Giant Food Stores In Arlington

ARLINGTON, VA — Giant Food announced Monday flu shots are available at in-store pharmacies, including locations in the Arlington area. The flu vaccines are administered by Giant pharmacists and do not require an appointment. A copayment is usually not required through most insurance plans.

Standard flu shots as well as high dose flu vaccines for customers over the age of 64 are available. Pharmacists can recommend and administer the appropriate immunizations based on a patient's needs.

Insurance companies including Medicare are billed directly, so there is a $0 copay in most cases.

"COVID-19 has presented challenges that we have not encountered before, and medical professionals around the world advise that getting the annual your flu shot is of vital importance to your health and wellness during this global pandemic," said Paul Zvaleny, Giant Food's director of pharmacy operations, in a statement. "Giant welcomes everyone to come speak to one of our specially trained, dedicated pharmacists about flu shots and other adult immunizations, because it is never too early to take preventative measures to stay healthy, and we are happy to offer the flu shot as well as tetanus, pneumonia, shingles and many more vaccinations."

Flu shots come with complimentary vaccination reviews. The short questionnaires determine if a patient is missing any recommended vaccinations.
