Free STEM Activities, Live Music And Family Fun Coming To Arlington’s Met Park

ARLINGTON, VA — Amazon Community Day will return to Metropolitan Park on Saturday, Sept. 26, with a free festival featuring hands-on science activities, live entertainment, local vendors and activities for children and pets.

The third annual event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park, 510 14th St. South, in National Landing. The festival coincides with Amazon’s 20th anniversary in Virginia, according to the company’s announcement.

Children can explore STEM activities such as making slime and bubble potions, building skyscrapers and creating straw rockets. A separate children’s area will offer face painting, glitter tattoos, bubbles and a LEGO wall.

Other planned attractions include an inflatable football-filled foam pit, a misting tent and a station where attendees can customize trucker hats with patches. A community library will offer complimentary books and a bookmark-decorating station.

Entertainment will include a live DJ, Science Guys of Baltimore, and performances by local marching bands and cheer teams.

Visitors can browse independent sellers and entrepreneurs from the Washington region at the Amazon Alley pop-up market. The EatLoco Farmers Market will also feature vendors selling produce, hot food and handcrafted goods.

A brunch garden for visitors 21 and older will offer local craft beers and other beverages.

Attendees can bring their dogs for a complimentary treat bar, a stick library, pet caricatures and a bandana-customization area.
