Updated: Williamsburg Gas Main Break Contained
Residents in the Williamsburg area returned to their homes after Washington Gas contained a gas main leak Thursday night.

UPDATED (Oct. 8, 6:53 p.m.): Washington Gas has finished containing the gas main leak in the 5100 block of Williamsburg Blvd., according to a post on the Arlington County Fire Department's Twitter account. Evacuated residents are being allowed to return to their homes. ACFD units will remain on the scene for cleanup.
ARLINGTON, VA — About 15 residents of the Williamsburg area of Arlington have been displaced from their homes due to a gas main break, according to a post on the Arlington County Fire Department Twitter account. The Red Cross is on the way to the scene to provide assistance.
Multiple ACFD units are in the Williamsburg area Thursday evening, after residents reported smelling the odor of gas in the 5100 block of Williamsburg Blvd., around 4:30 p.m. The Office of Emergency Management is working a unified command on the scene, according to a post on Twitter.

An Arlington County Alert at 4:53 p.m., reported that Arlington County Police had shut down Williamsburg Boulevard between N Edison and N Frederick.
