Generals Volleyball Defeated by Raiders
The General defense wasn't able to overcome the Raiders.
The Washington-Lee Girls Varsity Volleyball Team (3-2, non-tournament play) fell to J.E.B. Stuart (3-2, non-tournament play) Monday night, 0-3 (24-26, 23-25 and 24-26).
"They (Stuart) had very good middles and we just never made a correction or an adjustment," said W-L head coach John Delaney. "We just couldn't find an answer to stop them in the middle and that essentially put us off the whole match, everybody was uneasy. The whole defense was uneasy because we didn't know what was going to happen. And even when we did get a touch on them, it was something that was dumped or dropped in front. We just couldn't click on defense, and that's actually kind of been our problem all year anyways."
The Generals lost each game by two points, the minimal a game can be lost by. The play looked even on the court, and the Raiders were not visibly dominating.

"Every game we lost we had 23 or 24 points, we were in it and knew it was going to be a close match," Delaney said. "We could have easily been the team that won all three of those games by two points each."
Delaney said in this week's practices the team will be focusing on hitting, blocks and defense.

"I think we played well, we need to push a little harder," said senior outside hitter Synthia Boudreau. "We just need to see what the other team is doing faster and get to the ball and be able to block, know where the hitters are going to hit and just line up the block and put it away."
The Generals travel to South Lakes, Thursday and return home to face Arlington-rival Yorktown, Monday.
