Get Ready: Shirlington Animal Hospital Opening Soon

Full-service hospital will be open for business possibly as early as Wednesday, March 4.

Dr. Dana Carr says she knew she was going to be a veterinarian when she was 12 years old, growing up in Michigan.

“I was exposed to animals from the beginning. My mother would take in stray cats and injured birds. I always had several different types of pets growing up — cats, dogs, fish, small mammals, reptiles,” says Carr, who will soon be heading up the much-anticipated Shirlington Animal Hospital in Arlington’s Shirlington Village.

(Watch for an opening date soon. The hospital should be over its last few building inspection hurdles as early as Wednesday, March 4.)

Previously a dentist’s office, the location has had a complete overhaul from top to bottom. “Everything is brand new on the inside,” said Carr. “It’s very modern, with new high-tech equipment.”

The owners of the new animal hospital are veterinarians Dr. Jim MacLean and Dr. Barry Rosenbluth.
