Gruesome Deer Killing In Arlington: Reports

Someone reportedly may have shot the deer in Shirlington with a bow and arrow.

ARLINGTON, VA -- Police reportedly are investigating after a deer was killed in Shirlington, possibly by someone armed with a bow and arrow.

A Facebook posting indicated that there was a large police presence in the area of S. Wakefield Street on Nov. 16. One person responding to the post said that someone shot a deer with a bow and arrow in a condominium complex.

An Arlington ordinance bars citizens from shooting a bow "within 100 yards of any public road, public building or structure, private residence or structure, or property of another."

ARLNow.com reports that animal control officers collected the animal, and the county's chief animal control officer says that they do not believe this incident to be criminal in nature.
